Hi, Eric,
I had your email address due to the fact that I still receive the Redbull emails. I used to be a member years ago, but let it lapse due to a lack of time (although I’m still slowly restoring a 1943 GPW).
The reason for the email is that I was hoping you might know some members that would be interested in accomplishing a cosmetic restoration (basically, painting) the AH-1 Cobra that is sitting on a pedestal at the Moose Lake airport.
I’m on the airport board, and the Cobra really needs a freshening-up. We put-out feelers in the area to several painting firms, but they are unfamiliar with aircraft, especially military aircraft, and we weren’t comfortable with them doing it. Since I’m a longtime MVPA member and familiar with the MV restoration community, I thought maybe you knew of some people that would have the expertise and desire to repaint the Cobra. The airport would cover the reasonable costs of supplies and labor, and probably let whomever does it, submit paint schemes (currently, it has a non-accurate generic paint scheme).
Please let me know what you think. I’d really like this helicopter to get the make-over it deserves.
Regards,
Bob Matarelli
